It’s your decision whether you have a water birth, not the hospitals. Be firm, but polite, and tell them waht you have decided. They are your medical advisers, not your medical dictators (and you take their advice seriously before you make up YOUR mind what’s best for YOU). HypnoBirthing is wonderful. Have a look at the website http://www.thehypnobirthingcentre.co.uk for reports from HypnoBirthing mothers. Keep practicing. Find a HypnoBirthing teacher near you if you still have time. Consider a home birth – they’re safer.

And have a wonderful birth and a beautiful baby.

Hey there – I’m a total stranger… hope you don’t mind! I came across your blog because I’m subscribed to they wordpress hypnobirthing tag feed, so I see lots of stuff about hypnobirthing. I’m doing hypnobirthing – 1st baby – and I’m due today, so I’m getting excited and anxious!
The whole premise of hypnobirthing that you really need to retrain your brain on is that labor and birthing don’t have to hurt. There doesn’t have to be pain. We are taught by society and culture and movies and TV that it’s excruciating, and when we are tense and fearful, it certainly can be! Hypnobirthing isn’t about pain management, it’s about keeping your body relaxed so it can do what it was designed to do: gently bring your beautiful child into the world!

Bless your heart! I remember those very uncomfortable last weeks of pregnancy.

With my first child, I had an epidural and felt so drugged afterwards. With my second, I progressed too quickly and had her naturally. Afterwards, I was on a freakin’ hormone high that you wouldn’t believe! I’ve made up my mind…. if I have any more, it will definitely be a natural childbirth.
